I always get ovulation pain. Discharge thickens to allow sperm to survive better inside you and therefore increase chances of fertilisation.

For me it feels like a heavy and dull ache, coupled with a strange, bloated fullness a bit like constipation.

I find it much worse than period pains and sometimes resort to paracetamol and hot water bottles. It lasts a day but is really uncomfortable for 5 or 6 hours.

Mine lasts a few days ,but yes cloudy discharge and bloating ,and yes fullness like constipation.
I also suffer with I.B.S so evon worse

I get it too, have done for as long as I can remember. Don't get the discharge, but get a nagging stitch like pain in my side, and sometimes have to sit down as it really hurts. Can set my clock by it. I think there is a medical term for it if the symptoms are really bad/uncomfortable. Something like Mittlelsmertch, I should remember because I used to be a med sec for a gynaecologist but it was a long time ago. Think ive got an old medical dictionary, will post again if I find it.

Yes, I get it, and its getting worse (does this mean my ovaries are shrivelling up like pickled walnuts?) PMT is also getting worse each month.

Which is why I am calling the family planning clinic on mon to get a mirena fitted

its mittelschmerz. Quite handy I suppose if you're trying to conceive, but a nuisance if you're not.

tribpot · 19/04/2008 19:24

Yes - used to get a horrible stabbing pain in my lower abdomen without fail 14 days before period due.

The only thing worse is the fact that it's bloody well stopped now that I've been ttc for years - what was the point of enduring it for years before that if it would not act as a handy indicator of when to get jiggy with it?! (Worked like a charm with ds, so thoroughly unimpressed).

The discharge is normal as well, though - don't worry.

Iworryalot · 19/04/2008 19:27

was worried bout discharge but it does only last few days so it must be to do with ovulation .

A book like 'Take charge of your fertility' or similar will set your mind at rest; your body is designed to produce more fluid at your most fertile time to increase the chances of sperm successfully arriving at their destination - even though I think I basically knew this I didn't make the connection until I read the book.

I do think it's a shame we aren't taught more about this at school. It's all perfectly natural and normal, after all - yet it's still almost like a black art.

Yes I get this every mid cycle and it can be very painful. Sharp pain in either side, plus general addominal pain, feeling extra tired, extra winde andsometimes hard to walk!! I kid you not.

I think if you are ttc you are advised not to take painkillers esp ibuprofen at the time. If it's any consolation I did get pregnant very quickly each time.

I also notice just before day of ovulation pain, rather unsurprisingly my desire for sex goes through the roof and sex feels much more intense at mid cycle.

I have often wondered whether I should have sought medical advice though about the pain etc.

Perhaps I should start another thread but does anyone have days when they are pre menstrual when their head is just somewhere else. I have just driven about 40 miles to collect one of my DCs and was quite scared because I felt completely spaced out and sort of not as sharp as I might otherwise feel. But pretty sure its PMT symptom.
