concerned about ds private parts

the tip of ds's penis is slight red and looks sore. i've tried to pull it back at nappy change times to clean it bit as you can imagine its a little difficult. its been like this for a couple of days now. he is unsettled as well which is not like him.

i want to google but no idea what i should be looking for and you can imagine what will come up if i google 'foreskin' a friend's ds had to be circumcised at 6 mths because the foreskin was infected.

does anyone have any advice, ideas, should i be more concerned???

smear it in sudocrem for a start. see how it goes.
then get him to a doc if it persists.

my nephew had this - a little infection. Went to doctor and he simply had to have a bath in salt water. However it is worth getting anything like this checked out if you are worried

PS He then went round telling every one he had to have a salt bath because his willy was sore!!!!!!

I'd put some sudocrem on it and don't pull it back. I think that would make it worse. Then take to a doc it it gets worse.

Ds2's sometimes looks like this. I leave his nappy off and put a bit of sudocreme on it. Oh, and I also tell him to stop playing with it! The way he pulls it, no wonder it looks sore

Firstly, don't pull it back!! When Ds1 had an infection I had to go to the GPs and get some cream which I had to put on with a cottonbud (which is hard as you can't see down the hole) But it cleared up. Ds1 is 10 now and still has a tight foreskin but hasn't had any infections for years now

balanitis, take him to GP and he'll prob have antibiotics.

don't think you're supposed to pull it back at this age - at least, when ds had it the doctor said not to.

btw, ds had it twice and is now 3 and a half and hasn't had it for about 18 months

so from scanning that link, balanitis is..... a bit sore and red on the end of the penis.
well that clears that mystery up then...

of course its saturday so i might call out of hrs doctor. ds is just 1 year old. why am i not suppose to pull foreskin back? i hav 2 girls so all this is new & weird for me

don't pull it back!!

The foreskin is still attached until around 3 to 4 years of age. If you are pulling it back you are actually tearing it.

When DS had balanitis we were prescribed antibiotic eye ointment and it worked very quickly.

i was told to do nothing with my ds until he is old enough to do it himself

as i thought i may need to clean it first dc so had no idea but they said big no you do not touch it clean around but do not attempt to pull it back
