DS swallowed mouthful of bodywash in the shower

He seems alright... made a few choking noises at the time, which I think was just him trying to spit it out. I gave him some water at the time, then milk as usual at bedtime.... but now having irrational worries that the bodywash may give him some kind of delayed horror reaction. Please tell me I'm being silly! He's 22 months btw

I think it will be fine, but why not call nhs direct just to put your mind at rest or you will just keep worrying

He'll be fine - it's probably 90%+ water, and safety testing by the manufacturer would have considered swallowing of far more than a mouthful. It is considered normal misuse.

Ds ate all of the bubbles out of his bubble bath the other day, call it added nutrients!

swallowed washing liquid...
swallowed bubble mix....
swallowed mouthwash....

all still here to tell the tale:)

As I'm a bit neurotic I'd ring NHS direct. DS swallowed some child's paint the other day and they were very helpful and took it seriously. They actually got someone to speak to a toxicity expert about the ingredients and got back to me quickly. I'm sure it will be fine though.

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head with bodywash is that it might give him vomiting and/or diarrhoea. I don't think it's toxic apart from the fact that it can sometimes go straight through them. He probably swallowed less of it than you'd imagine.

My daughter did this too. She was 8 years old, why she did it I don't know. She was sick a bit later on, just once then fine.

She always used to eat strange things. She is ok now but annoyingly she is a fussy eater.

Ha! Sounds very much like my DS. He ate the paint and a fair amount of rancid paddling pool water within one weekend. And then DH revealed at 10 months old he scooped a load of Sudocrem into his gob. He didn't tell me...good job really.
