I have an appointment to see an eye specialist about my chalazion on my eye lid. Is normal process that they will remove it there and then?

No, you would have the first consultation and then be booked in for the surgery. I had mine around 4 months ago and my eye has healed beautifully. I was nervous to get it done but very glad I did.

I had one removed from upper eyelid about 8 years ago - went private as NHS was at least 6 months however, I was under the impression that they don't now do them on the NHS as now classed as cosmetic.

They lifted eyelid and scooped it out with a tiny scoop it was yellow sebum - had a fair bit of bruising for about 10 days but looked great afterwards.

you have local anaesthetic which does feel odd as eye feels relaxed/lazy afterwards so they tape it shut and I took off the tape the next day.

@Lm1981 yes she did although I had sent her photos first and she said it was straightforward. I had to get a lift though as was advised not to drive.

What was the outcome, did you end up getting the removal on the same day as your consultation?

Unfortunately not , was a bit of a waste of time as already knew from reading online everything said. If I want to go ahead it will
be a grand approx

DD had one removed at first appointment but it was a private clinic. NHS just kept cancelling her appointment.
