Gabapentin and low mood

Hello
I am on Day 4 of taking Gabapentin for severe pain issues. I have eased in v slowly and today is my first day taking 3 per day (100mg). I am feeling very low and wondering if anyone had this side effect and, if so, did it pass? I can’t not take it as I can’t manage the pain. With unbelievable timing yesterday I also started my period for the first time since giving birth 5 months ago, so that could also be why. It’s extremely heavy (I also had a coil fitted a few months back). Just looking for experiences really. Thanks x

I think it's more likely that it's your period returning and the hormones that go with it post partum.
I've been on Gabapentin for a few years now.. I started on a HUGE dose (titrated up over a few days) 900mg three times a day , for Trigeminal Neuralgia.
It made me so spaced out I was seeing mice in the lino floor at work!
However it didn't take long to adjust and it literally saved my life.

I'm now on 300mg a day :) It keeps the neurological pain at bay, and has no side affects. I honestly don't think it will be making you low, although it may take a week or so before you feel normal on it.. it does tend to flatten you out at first, but it soon passes.

Fingers crossed that it works for you as it is a very effective med :)
