Weaning off HRT. Anyone have experience?

I’m keen to try and get off HRT if possible. I’m only on Estrogel (x2 pumps a day) as I had a hysterectomy previously. Just wondering if anyone else has any experience of doing it? I think it’s making me feel unwell, I’ve put on quite a bit of weight and I want to get back to swimming & yoga and dealing with things as naturally as possible. I also have a family history of breast cancer so not sure it’s a good idea really long term. I’ve been on it 4 years.

Everyone’s different, but I was on combined HRT for a while and came off it in 2019. Immediately got hot flushes back but found that the insomnia wasn’t nearly as bad so stayed off it for a few years. Have recently gone back on for other reasons (lack of energy, feeling crap when exercising, just generally want to see if HRT helps). I tend to find it makes a small but not massive difference and suspect that radical changes towards healthy lifestyle (walking, running, weights, no alcohol, less sugar) work the best.
Everyone’s different though, all the best.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I need to get back to walking, swimming & yoga. I don’t drink alcohol & reduced caffeine right down due to other medical reasons recently. I’ve just been ill this last year and had major surgery in April and feeling recovered now. However I’ve put on weight, feel sluggish and I’m not comfortable staying on it long term due to earlier mentioned family medical history. Think I’ll start by alternating 1pump/2pumps for a couple of weeks first, then go down to 1 pump a day.

Sounds sensible. I always find getting outdoors and walking / running does the most for me - lifts my mood, helps me sleep, everything. Good luck.
