little white lumps/spots on 4yos tongue - vassisdiss pls?

haver just noticed ds1 wiping his tongue over nad over on his shirt... asked why and he says theres lumps on his tongue. so i look. and there are.
whats that all about then?

oh come on, somebody must know. he says it hurts.
i will take him to see a doc tomorrow (poxy endless queues at walkin centre as doctors are closed on w/ends grrr) obv.
and i guess its some virusy sore throaty thing... but ive never actually seen lumps on the tongue like that before.

anyone got anything to say about it at all?

they kind of look smaller than ulcers... and theres loads of them.

whether it is or not, what could cause so many , a virus? poor wee scrap.

Is he drinking enough? Vaguely remember that tongue can be irritated if mouth is too dry. Or something like that...?

oh thanks for the suggestions...

dp now saying it looks like ulcers. he (dp) recently had ulcers for ages. v sore.
