my mum has fibroids, her only symptoms where comstant bleeding for 5 weeks solid. she finally went to the docs and they sad 'oh well thats cause of your fibroids'. mum didnt even know she had fibroids.
she has to go back to the docs for tests and is booked in to see a specialist next week.
i dont know much about treatments, but do know that a coil can be fitted, but my mum isnt a 'likely candidate' for that.
she hasnt had a scan, but she did have a laperoscopy(sp?) a few years back, so she doesnt know how bad they are.

i will be watching this thread and showing mum, if you get some more responses.

I've got a whopper! Causes irregular bleeding at the time of my period, but otherwise nothing much. It did prevent dd being born naturally, though; needed a section. I went for a Mirena coil, but they couldn't get it in, even the gynaecologist tried and failed. I could have had it done under GA, but unfortunately dh works in the theatre where it would be done, and I work in another part of the theatres, and I didn't want a load of our colleagues getting a first class view up my fanjo, so it was back to the condoms for us!
