I have asthma, which is usually pretty much under control. Since January I have had numerous chest infections, antibiotics and steroids. I've also had a whopping cough. And maybe a pneumonia too. So after about 9 months of constant coughing, that has eased off and the only symptom I am now left with is being exhausted and only being able walk, albeit very slowly, about 100 metres and having brain fog.

I have had chest X-rays, which showed patch of infection and latest x-ray says all clear now, ct scan that shows no issues, ecg and echocardiogram which also was clear. I am seeing the respiratory consultant.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any ideas what it could be?

Sounds like you had pneumonia if the x ray showed infection. I had a very nasty case of pneumonia in the Spring which I was hospitalised for. The recovery is very slow and I was very fit beforehand so while not exactly expecting to "bounce back" I was expecting to be better than I am. I was warned pneumonia recovery is notoriously slow but I am surprised at the actuality of it. Given how long you have been generally debilitated for I think it is quite possible that you are just having a particularly slow recovery.

In my case day to day life is generally OK now and I can walk around at a normal pace without actually having to stop and rest, though I do get out of breath sometimes. Cardiovascular exercise is very tough, though.

I'd be very grateful if you would come back and update us when you have seen the respiratory consultant because I got no advice on rehabilitation whatsoever, beyond doing breathing exercises.

Wishing you well.

Thank you. I haven't had much information either. I have also seen the respiratory clinic and have been having various tests there too. I am hopefully seeing the respiratory consultant at the end of this month and will update again.
