Does anaemia cause light periods?

Recently diagnosed as severely anaemic and was given an iron transfusion and then had the period from hell (two weeks after my last one and totally out of sync with my cycle. I felt generally terrible afterward luckily I was due another iron transfusion which I’ve had so that’s perked me up again. Awaiting results of a ct scan (scanned from thorax, abdomen and pelvis so all bases covered) with contrast to hopefully diagnose cause of anaemia.

Im wondering whether it’d be worth a chat with GP and getting something to stop the flooding just in case. I used to have terrible periods but lightened up a lot about a year ago, am 44 so assumed peri-menopausal. Google gives very contradictory results.

Consider a mirena coil for this. There are other drug treatments too. But something else such as fibroids may be going on so get referred and checked.
