Lipoma: can they shrink and come back?

My husband has a fatty lump on his back (about the size of a 5p). But what's weird is, it shrunk and almost went away and now it's come back exactly the same. He saw a specialist at the time who took one look and said it was a classic lipoma and sent him away. But is it normal for it to shrink and return? Google has nothing!

That does sound odd. They are lumps of fatty deposits so not sure how it could shrink.

I had a a few on my arms and had them dissolved with fat dissolving injections. Took 6 months of Iinjections for them to fully shrink.

Hmmm. Are you sure it's not a cyst? Those can ebb and flow. I have literally hundreds of lipomas and once they show up, they stay. They are more prominent when I lose weight and kind of get more lost when I am fatter.

It's weird isn't it? I might tell him to go back to the GP

How did you have this done? Via a beauty salon or medical setting? I've had three removed leaving scars but have a few more I'd love to get rid of.

I have a lump on my back that 2 GPs diagnosed as lipoma, but I had an ultrasound on it and it's actually an epidermal cyst.
