Tooth Extraction Healing

Is this healing as it should? I did a salt rinse and a part of the extraction site came out, was it a piece of food and how it’s healing? Or did I manage to remove a piece of tissue that was healing? The photos are in order, for the last photo it’s today and it’s my 5th day.

That looks okay at present (ex-dental assistant) but go easy with the salt washes (just hold the water in place, rather than sloshing it about!) as it looks as though you've disturbed a little bit of the clot.

Thank you so much for answering, I’ve been doing that but now I feel like I might have food stuck under the sutures and the rinse isn’t getting it out. If I upload a picture would you be able to help me again lol?

Happy to. I bet you haven't though - that's just what a healing socket looks like. Do not fiddle with it!

I’m trying not to lol, here’s the image. Also when I bite down, the my actual molar feels a bit weird, is that normal? Not sure if it helps but the tooth they took out was tooth 30.

Ended up doing one more rinse before going to sleep and this is how it looks now. I still feel like the white piece is a piece of rice.

Don’t worry you won’t have disturbed any clot. By the 5th day the clot will already be gone. It is probably food stuck under the sutures as you said

whyhere · 30/08/2024 18:17

I don't agree with the last post, so I'll stop now. Good luck OP.

Erm unlike whyhere I am actually a currently practicing dentist (still doing some NHS work as well) with over 20 years experience so I think I know what I’m talking about.

RobinHumphries · 30/08/2024 22:08

But it looks like the tooth that was taken out was the lower right 6 or in FDI classification 46. I don’t know where 30 comes from? American nomenclature?

rosepetalsss · 03/09/2024 18:18

Thank you for reassuring me I just went in today and they took them out and it seems to be healing nicely.

Honestly I don’t know they just referred to it as 30, I guess it’s American nomenclature
