Hi everyone..

How does everyone keep their tonsil stones at bay/get rid of them?

I've done research and it looks like there isn't any 'cure' but I'm sick to death of getting tonsil stones..

I can't say I ever noticed I got them until the last year? (I'm 29)
What on earth causes them? I feel I'm pretty good with oral hygiene albeit could be better if I were to be extreme about it?

I only get them in my left tonsil cavity.
It's only been a week since I last pushed a huge one out. Now I've just pushed another one out that's even bigger than last time!

There is another small one wedged in there but I can't get it..

What am I suppose to do have a constant mint in my mouth?
I work customer facing all day long so I'm super paranoid about my breath stinking.. because let's be honest tonsil stones absolutely reek 😭

Please help with some advice!

I used to get these all the time - I hated them too. Now I'm dairy free I never get them and until I saw your post - I hadn't realised!

So maybe it's that - a quick google says dairy products can cause them. Could you try a week or two without it and see what happens?

I did wonder if dairy could be an issue! I also get issues with my complexion and I've had a lot of people say diary!! I'm going to cut it out and see if I see an improvement!

Bye bye dairy milk chocolate 😭
Thank you so much for your help and so glad you don't get them anymore!! X

i keep mine away using a water spray from amazon used every night, a little pick with a light also from amazon to check all clear and use ultra dex mouthwash. This works for me.

Yes dairy affects my skin too. I've been off it for years.

I get a lovely goats cheese from Tesco - like a mild white cheddar and have plenish soya milk in my tea. So I don't really miss it.

Some of the dairy free alternatives have lots of processed ingredients in them so just watch what you get.

I get them too, but also only on the left tonsil. I use something like the irrigation syringe posted above. I set myself up, either over the bathroom sink or at a table with a mirror in front. I have a head torch, but instead of being on my head, sit it on the desk to illuminate my mouth. I used warmed, saline in the syringe to squirt slowly at the stone, and have a bowl underneath for the water and stone/s to fall into. Sounds revolting, but its the only way I've found to remove them gently, without poking about with sharp objects.
