Neck pain

I’m early thirties and had never suffered with neck pain up until 5/6 weeks ago. Since then I’ve had a constant sore neck and random pains in my shoulder, both arms and chest (including under left armpit)

I spoke to the doctor as I was worried any pains in my chest and arms could be heart related and they’ve told me the pains will be due to my neck and not to worry.

Has anyone else had neck pain that has caused pain elsewhere in the body? I’m going to book an appointment with a physio soon, just looking for some advice

I had (still have on and off) tennis elbow in both arms caused by issues in my neck.

Sitting looking at screens all day isn't good for our necks.

Physio was brilliant but I also had to adjust my car seat and steering wheel position, use a thinner pillow, have a proper desk assessment... Basically look at everything involving posture.

Have you changed your pillow arrangement lately?

And do you work at a desk? Have you had a workstation assessment recently?

Neckhelp · 24/08/2024 21:07

@AnnaMagnani sorry to hear you’re having issues too.

I agree, I’ve worked in an office for nearly 15 years and my posture is terrible so I’m hoping it’s down to that and not anything else.

The pain came on suddenly overnight so this hasn’t been a gradual thing.

@GreenShady Nope haven’t changed any pillow arrangement however on the night my sore neck started my pillows were stacked differently as I was poorly with a migraine.

Yes I work at a desk and have never had an assessment. I work for a small family business so it’s not anything that has ever been done before at my work.

Anyone else?!

I am much, much older than you but my neck pain began in my thirties. I wish I had known back then just how useful and effect Sports Physiotherapy could be. Unfortunately, neck pain deteriorates with age so I still go for a few sessions periodically. A firm orthopaedic pillow helps too.

@Neckhelp how is your neck now

Neckhelp · 04/02/2025 19:18

@Deedoo I went to a physio and he sorted me right out! Told me the issue was my vagus nerve and done some work and now my neck pain is gone, phew!

@Neckhelp oh good what did he do? Massage or stretches @Neckhelp hoe many sessions did you have

Starrrz · 26/11/2025 18:39

@Neckhelp did you get any dizzyness with yours? X

I suffer with dizziness anyways but I never noticed any additional dizziness with my sore neck. A couple months after my last post my neck started playing up again so I went to a chiropractor and he’s managed to heal me! (For the time being).
