Eczema; how can I help DD

DD 18 yo is in tears this morning with an eczema flare up. Can't think what's caused it. She had been doing well with aveeno balm for a year. She has sensory issues and detests heavy emollients. It's waking her up in the night and is really getting her down. It's across her scalp, neck, arms, chest and shoulders. Tummy and legs are ok. Any advice will be very welcome. TIA.

No real advice but my DD really suffers on and off so solidarity here.

Has she tried an oatmeal bath? My DD also hates heavy emollients and this really helped with the itching. Also wearing cotton socks on her hands overnight to stop her scratching in her sleep

Thanks. She used aveeno oatsoak and flared. I'll have a look to see if they had anything added. If not, we could try some from the cupboard.

She needs a steroid - probably betnovate - to take it down. Aveeno isn’t going to sort it in that state.

Call the GP and get a prescription

My DS gets this and he needs to use steroids to get it down you can buy a mild 1 in the pharmacy hydrocortisone to use to help it come down but it might need something stronger from the gp next week
