DVT/ PE

I had PE three years ago whilst 6 months pregnant (so provoked), I had no DVT symptom but I think I know where it came from as one of my thighs was a bit sore beforehand (but not swollen). Made a full recovery, but now that bit of my thigh hurts again and I’m paranoid whether it is clots again? I do exercise as well so could possibly have pulled something… but just worries me as it’s the exact same spot. Any advice please?

I would speak to the doctor for advice.

I have an unresolved PE since having my DS and it's a hard thing not to worry about.

Hope everything is ok x

How are you feeling now AnotherBod?

AnotherBod · 25/08/2024 18:35

Thanks for asking, it feels fine now. I just had a panic because it’s the same spot

Glad you are feeling better. It's hard not to panic sometimes.

I had a big DVT and PE as a teen then had a second DVT in the same leg a few years later. I got diagnosed with a blood disorder and started life-ling anticoagulants. That was probably 8 years ago now.

I can get a bit paranoid whenever I feel twinges in that leg now, and it is has always been slightly swollen since the first DVT so I have to remind myself of that when I compare both legs!
I also have to remind myself I'm on anticoagulants now, and it's highly unlikely I'll get another one.

That said I've been to the GP to check a couple of times since, and they've not been concerned.

Trust your instinct and get checked if you're worried. First big sign is obvious swelling and pain, which can be progressively debilitating. That's what got me suspicious the second time, and I was right!
