Should I take out my stitches?

Six weeks ago I had a punch biopsy on my nose, and and a couple of 'dissolvable' stitches. Sure enough, just like any other dissolvable stitches I've ever had, they havent dissolved and are now sticking out of my nose waving in the wind, looking absurd and being annoying.

I was told by the hospital that if I had any issues with the wound to talk to the GP, so I dutifully booked an appointment 10 days ago, got seen 3 days ago, and the doctor refused to remove them because she didn't put them in!

If I tug on them it hurts, it feels like they are pretty deep. My eyesight isn't amazing, but with a mirror and a good light I might be able to tug at them and somehow cut the knot and remove them, I'm just a bit concerned about cutting my nose at the same time.

I've taken out stitches myself before and it was fine, but because this is so visible I'm a bit more cautious...

Hi,
I had a large mole removed 5 weeks ago and still see stitches, it’s just under my hairline so not too noticeable but I wouldn’t be confident removing them. Are you sure they aren’t just taking a bit longer to dissolve? You’ve already gone this long I would personally wait it out!

I honestly don't know...do you think they'll just eventually rot away? The useless doctor thought they should have been gone by now (but I'm not confident in her expertise)...

Can't you book to see the practice nurse & ask her advice?
