Wasp sting.. 1 week on?!

Wasn't sure if this was the correct place to post buuut.. 1 week ago I was stung on the breast by a wasp, it had managed to get down my top and wiggle down into my bra. I managed to get the sting out at the time, and put some Savlon on it (all I had as was camping!) Had a red spot where the sting was and a rashy red sore breast.
Eased off that evening minus the red spot, been fine since, but tonight I've now got a bright red king of ring, bigger than a 50p around the sting again, slightly swollen and hot to touch, itching. I've taken an antihistamine and whacked some Germolene on it. I've never been stung before thankfully.. but is this normal a week on?!
Thank you in advance!! X

Are you sure you got it all out? There may have been a tiny piece left that has become infected.

Visit your nearest pharmacy tomorrow and see if they can have a look, they may advise going to your GP for an antibiotic cream or something

I'm fairly certain it is all out. 🥴 or at least I hope so!

Will do! Thank you.. it's driving me mad!!! X

You could have an infection, I got cellulitis after a wasp sting and had to have antibiotics. A topical cream won’t help if it is infected, you’ll need a course of antibiotics. Definitely see someone tomorrow.

Was it a bee? They leave the sting behind. Wasps don’t. They carry it around to sting again. A bee dies after it’s stung. You might have a reaction to a bee sting but it’s less likely with a wasp sting I think.

I have had infected wasp stings, the itch was unbelievable! They became swollen and hot. A course of antibiotics and cream from the GP helped really quickly. Hope you get sorted soon.

A million % it wasn't a bee, that one I can be sure of. There was definitely a little stinger type thing that I got off! I did think this at first but I'm sure it was a wasp 🤷‍♀️

Who knows, just left with a very bold red sore boob! 🥴

Will get it looked at today, thank you everyone! X

Every time I get stung by a wasp within a week it’s got infected and I’ve ended up on antibiotics (for a number of years I used to get stung every year for some odd reason!) Doctor said it’s because you never know what they have been on before they sting you!

Ooh that is a good point. You never really think about these things like that do you?!
Could of been sitting, chillin' on all sorts of poo and stuff 🤮

My daughter had the same. It was definitely a wasp as I saw it. The second flare up went down with 2 days antihistamine and some bite cream. The next step would have been gp. Having spoken to a few friends it seems quite common but definitely keep an eye on it for infection.

Sameshitdifferentdayx · 22/08/2024 08:40

Yes I'm sure it was a wasp, the husband saw too! A friend has mentioned her sons also flared up for a 2nd time about a week after, so must be common as you say!
My breast feels like it's on fire this morning!! Rung GP but they're unable to see me at all today so I'm going to head down to the pharmacy in hope someone can see me/help at least! X

I had a wasp sting me on the upper boob this summer and twice nearby. I did feel the sting down my arm from it and it went very red and hot. I was really surprised but no sting was left behind. It flew in under my open collar shirt. I get what you are feeling but not sure what can be done.

Sameshitdifferentdayx · 22/08/2024 10:22

I've been seen and it's infected! Pharmacist has whacked me on antibiotics!

Thank you all! X

So that should work. That wasp must have had something nastier than normal on its sting!
