Fibromyalgia

I think I have fibromyalgia.

I'm 41 year old female and for the past 3-4 years I have been back and forth to the GP and had lots of tests and never really had any answers but I've been reading fibromyalgia and it sounds very much like that.

Around 1-2 times a week my whole body aches, it's an ache I can't really explain like a muscle ache throughout my body. I can't sleep even though I feel exhausted and this give me a headache. I feel depressed and irritable and generally unwell but then I can go a couple of days and feel okay. I have mild scoliosis but GP says that will not cause symptoms. I work part time and have a 3 teenage children. Job is not stressful.

Should I go back to GP and what should I ask for. How do you get a diagnosis of fibromyalgia.

My sister has been back and forth due to aches and pains. Dr recently said that they will rule out various possibilities, if its none of the things they test/scan for, then they will assume its fibro.

You can go back to the GP and keep reporting symptoms. They'll keep doing tests and hopefully find the answer and cure to your problem.

The question shouldn't be 'how do you get diagnosis of fibromyalgia' but how to get the answer and hopefully cure/management to what's ailing you. It may or may not be Fibro so don't zero in on it. Let the doctors give you the right diagnosis.

You usually get a diagnosis from a rheumatologist.

You need to see a Rheumatologist.
There is no test for Fibromyalgia but they can rule out other things.
Fibromyalgia has over 200 different systems.
90% of causes are due to a trauma.. it can also be inherited.
I've had it 39 years.( Horrific trauma ) but only diagnosed 20 years ago.
On a bad flare l wake up tired... plus
my TMJ gets worse.
l have a migraine nearly every day.
The fatigue is so overwhelming.
My IBS is worse.
I get brain fog .
My depression and anxiety is horrible.
Plus many more symptoms.
I can hardly get out of bed and need help in my wet room etc.
Please ask to see a Rheumatologist.
Good luck x
