Norethisterone side effects 12 year old

We are due to go on holiday next week (first in 8 years), and unfortunately pre teen DD (12) is due her period on the day we land. My friend told me about Norethisterone to delay periods. I started her on them today (she took her second tablet at 2pm) and now one of her calf muscle is red, hot and a bit swollen. I really worried about side effects now as I guess this is an unusual reaction?? Would I need to take her to A&E?

Did the doctor prescribe them ?

I’d want to rule out DVT, especially before a flight.

I would call 111 as I’m pretty sure that if you are on the pill (which I assume has similar hormones) that is a sign of a blood clot?

I would take her straight to A&E - I’ve taken these tablets before but I’m an adult and it was ok apart from terrible period once I stopped the tablets.

I'd ring 111, or go to A&E with that.

I’d go to A&E, pretty sure if you ring 111 they’ll tell you to do the same so cut out the middle man

Better to be safe especially when your going to be flying! Ring 111 at the minimum.

Redness has gone, and her calf muscle is not as hot. She now says was itchy and bumpy, and went red after she’s scratched it.

Oh good hopefully just a coincidence then! Sure you will keep an eye on her. Have a lovely holiday!
