Lower back/flank pain - colonoscopy or something else?

I will preface this with saying that I saw a doctor yesterday and am waiting for blood tests. I’m just not sure if it’s more concerning than I initially thought.

Ive had a bad pain in one side of my lower back/flank for over a week and it’s got worse every day. It doesn’t feel like muscle pain or a pinched nerve. It feels like something around the size of my fist is swollen and sore (note: I can’t feel any lumps or swelling or anything when I touch the area - this is what the pain feels like). I also have sore shoulders. The back pain got particularly bad very quickly when I had a couple of drinks the other day. It’s worse when I lie down. The only other symptom is exhaustion. I sleep all night then fall asleep a couple of times during the day and need to lie down most of the time even though it’s painful.

something I hadn’t thought of u til
now is that I had a colonoscopy 4 weeks ago. A few biopsies and small polyps taken, nothing of concern, no issues. This couldn’t be some sort of bleeding or complication related to that so long afterwards could it? I wouldn’t have thought as I assumed this would have been within the first week of the procedure.

Sent in a urine sample yesterday, blood tests tomorrow. I can’t imagine it’s anything sinister as I had an ultrasound and a CT scan a few months ago and all was well (other health issues - not a hypochondriac, just a lot going on with my health at the moment unfortunately). I do have a query for adrenal insufficiency due to low morning cortisol over the years but Addisons disease was ruled out 5 years ago. Am wondering about it due to the location of the pain and the exhaustion but my cortisol is being tested again so will see about that soon. In the meantime, wondering about the colonoscopy?

It's worth giving the department that did it a call to discuss I reckon. It probably is coincidence with the timing but the would be the ones that know.

Hi, I know this sounds a bit crazy but 20 years ago I had my appendix removed. Ever since then I have flank/kidney pain. I've been to doctor so many times over the years, scans, bloods etc. Nothing at all. It also hurts more in the mornings. And especially when i take a deep breath. I find pain is bad when I drink certain drinks too, mainly fizzy, coke dark coloured drinks but not too bad if I drink lemonade. V strange. Doctors don't know what it is so I've just learned to live with the pain. It even crossed my mind that something was left inside of me during my operation. 🤣.
You mentioned shoulder pain too, could you say your pain is bottom of your lungs in your lower back?? May be pleurisy? I also had this. Maybe it is connected to the procedure you had? Try not to worry. Hope you find your answers soon. 💐✨️
