This happens almost every morning maybe 3/4 times a week if not more & has been going on for years.

Minutes after I wake in the morning I get severe stomach cramps , exactly like contractions , it is agonising it makes me sweat and I have to take deep breaths , it feels no different than a contraction , this is then followed by a severe need for the toilet for a poop, usually diarrhoea. & pains don't continue after I poop

This only seems to happen in the morning... could this be ibs?

IBS covers various bowel conditions, and most that suffer have different symptoms. Something is clearly irritating your bowel causing you to have diarrhoea. You could try adding more fibre to your diet to see if it firms up your 💩 otherwise maybe I think you should see your GP to see if you need further investigation.
