Wondering if anyone else has had symptoms like the ones I'm suffering from at the moment.
I started feeling cruddy in the second week in January. No appetite - to the point where I was having to force myself to eat and anything I managed to get down seemed to stay in my stomach for ever. I had indigestion on and off (which I've never had before), a strange feeling of weakness in my legs and a general feeling of .... well the only way I can describe it is to say it felt like I'd been poisoned or was hungover - just nasty and uncomfortable all over.
I also started to notice that the whites of my eyes were discoloured. Anyway, to cut a long story short - after many visits to the GP, a liver scan, multiple blood tests and two consultant appointments with a gastroenterologist they've come back with precisely... nothing. Or rather they've come back with a diagnosis of Gilberts syndrome which might as well be nothing because it doesn't seem to be associated with any particular clinical problems and isn't treated.
My unconjugated bilirubin levels are high but all of my other liver function tests have come back normal. Blood tests normal - no hepatitis a, b or c. Liver scan normal.
The problem is I'm still feeling crud. I'm knackered beyond anything I've ever experienced before. My eyes are still yellow and I've still got a weird feeling in my body - not as bad as it was but it's still noticable to me.
Any ideas anyone? I'm feeling so sorry for myself.....
