Feeling ill when hot

Abby8989 · 17/08/2024 19:58

For the past few months I've been feeling very unwell when in a warm environment
I'm not talking about heatwave conditions or anything extreme, more like if standing in a queue to pay in a warm shop or if sitting watching my child's swimming lesson at an indoor pool. In these examples the environment is quite warm but it doesn't seem to bother anyone around me. Very soon after entering warm places I break I to a sweat and become light headed, brain foggy, fast heart rate and a bit nauseous, these symptoms then remain even after I've cooled down. I'm mid 30s, female. Ive been to gp twice who ordered full bloods which came back normal and haven't given any further help. Any advice? Thanks

Abby8989 · 17/08/2024 21:30

Are you drinking enough so you stay hydrated? It's good you've been checked out, is it just when hot and stood up?

POTS? www.nhs.uk/conditions/postural-tachycardia-syndrome/

MCAS? I have similar, also stomach cramps. Not had any testing but have been prescribed strong antihistamines daily which are helping. I'm seeing GP to review next week.

Symptoms are more accute if they kick In while I'm standing but dont seem to be caused by moving to a standing position and also happen when seated. I will look into those thanks

It sounds like self fulfilling prophecy to me - so because it has happened, now you are expecting it to happen so your anxiety then leads to these symptoms.

It could be a thyroid issue. Heat intolerance is a symptom.

whatisforteamum · 18/08/2024 06:19

Panic attacks and anxiety

Abby8989 · 18/08/2024 22:27

Don't think it's anxiety but thanks for your responses

Is there any chance of early onset menopause?

Proudbitch · 18/08/2024 22:30

I’ve been suffering similar to you the last few years. Just had my thyroid and hormones blood tests done, going to the GP next week and will report back if anything useful…

Is there any chance of early onset menopause?

Not sure, I don't have periods with the contraceptive pill I'm on. It's a possibility.
