ds (18 months) has thrown up twice on different days recently for no apparent reason. On Saturday we went out for dinner and he was sitting facing me on my lap. Just as dinner arrived he threw up all over me - he didnt really cough he just started retching and out it came. Needless to say we had to leave pretty sharpish!! (we took the food home with us as we hadnt even started eating)

He was fine the rest of the day and has been ok the last few days although has been off his food a bit (has refused dinner several nights). This morning he was standing over at the tv unit and once again threw up over the unit and over my carpet (which we got cleaned a few weeks ago - arrgh). The living room stinks of puke but did manage to get it cleaned up without him standing in it and trailing it round the house.

What the heck is wrong with him and can withholding poo make you sick?? The background to this is that last Saturday was ds's 4th day without pooing - he did eventually go twice that day and one of them was an explosion which needed a change of clothes (tmi I know). We are currently at day 3 of not pooing this time - he doesnt usually poo every day but 3/4 days does seem a bit long to go without one. He eats fruit and drinks gallons of fluids so I dont know why he goes so long between them.

Any ideas please as I am sick of the smell of puke

DD who is now 4 was quite badly constipated for nearly a week at the start of March, she was very sick with it too, infact she lost a load of weight, and she was a proper skinny minny anyway. The doctor said her system could not cope with any food, and struggled with liquid, there was just not a lot of room, plus she has a strong gag reflex anyway. She also had some back door trots, but again the doctor said that this was down to the constipation.
She is now on Movicol on a maintenance dose, and we are slowly reducing the days she has that on.
Probably best to have a chat with the doctor/hv to get him checked though.
