Pulling type pain from belly button to vagina - what causes it?

Has anyone else had this kind of pain? It feels like a cord being pulled from just below my belly button right through to my vagina, very painful for a few minutes and any movement or pressing the area makes it worse to the point I just have to freeze and not move until it passes, it doesn't last long, only a few minutes. Does anyone know what causes it? I'm wondering all kinds of things - prolapse, bowel issue, hernia? I'm post menopause if that makes a difference but I remember having this happen a few times when much younger. Has anyone experienced this and what was the cause?

Have you had previous surgery in the area? Could be adhesions.

Not a pain, but I know the sensation that you mean. I feel like I've felt It on and off most of my life but not as pain.

I've always assumed it was internal muscle cramping. I used to get it very badly when I was younger. Far less often and less strongly post meno.

Do you get it when you haven't had enough water, salt, sleep, exercise? That's when I get it?

I get it frequently and had it most of my teen an adult life. Does get worse with my period so assume it's something to do with that. Its uncomfortable like you said, a superficial pulling pain.

Thank you all so much for your replies. I guess it's not something to be too worried about and probably some kind of cramping, it's reassuring to hear that others have experienced it. I've just been curious as to why it happens.
In answer to @Orangesandlemons77 no I've never had any surgery. @Meadowwild I can't really see any pattern as to when it happens, though I think it normally happens when I've been sitting a while then changed position like rising to stand up.

I used to get this pre-menopause, but haven't had it for years now. It usually seemed to happen after emptying my bladder, so I thought it was some kind of muscle spasm. You have to stand sort of bent over for a minute until it eases off, don't you?

Wtf I literally googled this last night as I got it!! I have had some surgeries where they've gone through my belly button though so put it down to that. I'm also on a really heavy period atm though so may also be that it appears. Odd!!

It's a strange feeling I also get from time to time. I thought it happened to everyone!
