Period question....

For some strange reason my period lasted 13 days this time around, (normally 5 days), so will my next period come as though i only bled for 5 days or will it be 8 days later?

13 days? poor you, that must have been a nuisance.

Unfortunately I think you'll get your period at the normal time. The amount of blood isn't determined by the time at which you ovulate.

Oh thats poo, it was pretty awful, felt very sorry for myself, god i hate periods! and to think i have another 20 years left of them.

I've no expert knowledge but think I'd agree with Peaches. Only advice is to start keeping a record - start & end date plus duration, type of bleeding, etc just incase you ever decide to discuss with GP and then you can see whether there is a pattern or at least have the info to hand.

Actually i never did understand all this period business, i thought that because i had bled for longer my next one would be later. Do you not have the same gap in between? time for ovulation etc etc?

Is there anything you can do about long heavy periods?

well, the only certain thing about periods is that we're all different. And your own can be different from month to month, but when mine have changed they have settled in to a different cycle. Who knows. Hence suggesting you start keeping a record then you have something to refer to.
