Infected toe nail bed

I've ripped the edge of my little toe nail and the nail bed has now got infected. Normally I'd just leave it to sort itself out with a bit of salt water soaking but it's been a number of days already and we're going away so I'd like to avoid it getting worse while we're abroad....

Anyone know if a pharmacist would be able to help or do I need to try and see a GP?

My DD has had an infected ear lobe and the Dr said that they recommend savlon or germoline cream these days - which you can get from a pharmacy - over fucidin which is prescription. I'd pop to a pharmacy and ask there first but if not send pictures of it to your surgery via their online eConsult (or similar) and a Dr should ring and give advice and possibly antibiotics if they're not happy how it looks.

If you're going on holiday you'll prob want to avoid swimming pools but the sea may actually help as salty but get advice on that as it may have to stay dry. I've lost count on how many times my DD or I have got an ear infection or a skin infection from hot tubs and hotel swimming pools.
