ECG help - is this weird?

Hi, last week I had a lot of chest pain. Went to A&E convinced I was having a heart attack. They triaged me quickly and gave me a 30 second ECG. I’ve been referred to have a continuous monitor for a longer snapshot, as obviously they said the quick one just told them I was ok at that moment, but not what had occurred earlier.

I’ve bought a home monitor and check whenever anything feels a bit ‘off’, (which I know will probably contribute to my anxiety around it all and end up in a vicious circle!)

It’s mainly fine but t occasionally I’ll get readings like the one I’ve attached. If you can read ECGs is this something I need to contact my GP about sooner rather than wait for the appointment they’ve booked me in September? Thank you.

It looks like a lot of ‘artifact’ which is the sensors being jiggled iyswim. What kind of home monitor is it?

Thank you. It’s this, says a 6 lead monitor and has 21,000 good reviews so I do trust the device. But if it’s user error, I’ll be more careful holding it. You cross your ankle across your knee and put the back of the device on your ankle and then touch the pads with your fingers

sorry can’t attach a pic as I’ve already had my 3 for the day. here’s a link:

Looks like artefact. Were you moving a lot at the time?

BigPussyEnergy · 12/08/2024 09:59

No I was sitting still, holding the device on my leg but I guess it could have wobbled?

As long as the pattern doesn’t look like anything worrisome that’s good to know. I was feeling palpitations at the time I took the reading so as long as those lines don’t indicate anything to do with that I’ll make sure to sit super still next time. And try not to worry until I get my appointment next month. Thank you.

Thats great that you have a kardia, they are excellent devices. They can pick up muscles flexing and firing as artifact, so you have to stay ultra relaxed and still. You can also trust their algorithms to tell you if you have an unusual rhythm. What did the device say?

Thank you. The Kardia just says normal sinus rhythm so I was worried it wasn’t working, but I’m glad everyone seems to think this isn’t anything to worry about.

My DP used it and it picked up an ectopic beat which he says he gets quite often and has been told they’re fine, so I’m reassured that it doesn’t just say normal for everyone all the time!
