Fainting

I have a phobia of fainting which doesn't help!

But does anyone experience fainting episodes in hot weather, especially after eating? I'm wonderful if I need to see GP or is this likely to be caused by (likely dehydration) and heat? It happened a year ago and again last week. Always in really hot weather and after eating.

I'm sure I read somewhere that you can faint after eating as the blood goes to your stomach and away from your head? Maybe I imagined that.

I have low blood pressure and have been a bit of a fainter over the years but never from heat although I have seen people do this. Personally I wouldn't worry but never any harm in asking the GP.

I've read that @Hoglet70 and I'm kind of reassured by it as I'd eaten a heavy meal last week and within 30 mins felt awful plus dehydration plus very hot weather. I'll keep a log and if I get a repeat I'll speak with gp. Thank you for replying x

Of course you must make your own decisions about your own health. But if it were me, and I had fainted twice in two years, on particularly hot days, I think that in the first instance I'd be trying to manage that myself (by being more careful with hydration, staying out of the sun etc).

I have fainting and dizzy spells in the summer. I have low blood pressure generally and dehydration lowers it further.

I did go to doc when it first started, but he was unconcerned.

Have you tried lots of fluids including electrolites on hot days? Is your wee light coloured?

on the day it happened last week, I'd not had sufficient water so I'm pretty sure I nearly fainted because of dehydration/hot weather combo plus eating which can cause a drop in blood pressure.

I'm realising now that wee is rarely a light straw colour (which it should be) so I'm clearly not drinking enough in general, even though I think I am.

Never tried electrolytes to see if they'd help but you're probably right.

@TooTiredOfThisShit you're right. I'm rushing around working/kids/elderly unwell parents and never think 'have i had enough water today'. The irony is that I carry a litre water bottle around with me and I rarely re-fill it during the day! Time for some self care! thank you.
