Iron right up to colonoscopy?

Got a message yesterday to go in on Monday morning. Knew I needed one soon, but they bumped me up due to looking at the results again (possible infection?? Didn’t realise that would mean needing this).

I've been taking iron daily. Took two laxatives last night and iron tablet as normal this morning. Sat down to read the instructions for tomorrow (just picked up the rest of the prep) and saw it says to stop iron 7 days before. Obviously, I couldn’t do that, but worried I’ve taken one this morning. So annoyed with myself for not thinking and holding off this morning just in case.

How bad is this?

Give the hospital a ring - it makes the contents of your bowel dark so they can't see properly but I don't know if the plenvu remedies this

The unit is not open at the weekend and I’m in first thing on Monday morning. Worried about going through the prep and it not being ok 🙁

Looks like it’s probably a no, but if they ring me on Friday for an appointment on Monday (and don’t ask if I’m taking it) then surely they must be aware that I might not be as prepared as I should be?

They seem to have insourced contractors working with NHS staff to clear backlogs - but yeah big miss terms of having the right conversation with you when they offered you the appointment.
