Lower abdomen pain

Help! Dull lower right abdominal pain that has got worse since last night. Lying in bed this morning was very painful. Walking and coughing increases pain. Reminds me of post c section.

I wondered if its appendix related but sitting down has temporarily reduced pain and I though appendicitis was constant. When the pain subsides I feel ridiculous even considering seeking medical attention.

Any thoughts? Is it something to ride out?

Could be many things, but wouldn’t rule out appendicitis just because it was less severe when sitting down; when we sit the muscles in the abdomen relax so could be a tension thing.
If you’re female, are you midway through your cycle - could it be ovulation pain /mittlesmertz?

Strange questions

  • if you jump on the spot, how does it feel?
  • if you’re lying flat and press the area where the pain is, does it hurt more when you press down or when you release?

@LovedFedAndNoonesDead thank you. Yes mid cycle so I did think about ovulation pain (I’ve had it the last few months but not as bad as this).

Jumping increases pain and i’m not sure what hurts more on pressing! Pressing definitely increases the pain but it seems to radiate around when I let go. I’ve taken some paracetamol so will see if that helps…

If the paracetamol doesn't help I’d definitely consider getting yourself seen - the jumping test is one the surgeons used to use to check for appendicitis. Even if it’s just ovulation pain, it shouldn’t last particularly long and then should be gone once you’ve ovulated. Saturday morning in A&E is a relatively good time to be seen if you need to as the sports injuries haven’t happened and the Friday night drunks are being kicked out!
