Broken ankle, surgery and nerve block

Hi everyone,

Currently 1.59am, I had my surgery at 3pm today after dislocating and breaking my ankle/leg in 3 places. I need 3 plates and screws.

After surgery I was in agony, I woke up crying in pain and was given fentyl and morphine via canula. This worked after a good 10 minutes.

Anyway, straight away my toes felt extremely weird, felt like they were swelling up to the point of bursting. They still do, but they are numb due to the nerve block. I managed to get off to sleep but woken at 1.30am for the loo and I feel my leg and toes are completely numb, I have some sensation but I cannot move my toes and if I try too I get pins and needles.

Has anyone else had this operation and encountered this? Is it normal? As I did query at 10pm last night my cast felt uncomfortably tight. My foot and leg did not feel as numb as this before I fell asleep.

Thanks xx.
