dd has woken inconsolable with a high temp, snotty nose ,drooling and a rash raised and red to her bottom and lower legs. She hasn't got all her teeth yet.She drools a lot anyway cos of her hypotonia.I think it might be teething but the rash is very strange, its not chicken pox as shes had this.Any ideas???

Maybe it's a heat rash. She needs some ibuprofen to bring the temp down.

avenanap · 14/04/2008 23:46

are the spots big or small?

wrinklytum · 14/04/2008 23:48

Managed to get calpol down her.It is the fact that it is on lower legs and bottom that is odd.If her temp hasn't come down will take her to gps in am.Poor little mite she has very little language so cannot tell me whats wrong.Has had a drink ,nappy change cuddle and singsong and put her back in cot.The wails are dying down now.

Spots are small and in little clusters.About 1mm across

Hmm. It's hard to tell without seeing them. the GP's a good idea. Give NHS direct a call if you are worried through the night. I hope she's feeling better.

wrinklytum · 14/04/2008 23:59

ThanksIts all gone quiet now so fingers crossed

Are you ok?

wrinklytum · 15/04/2008 00:05

Well my life could be better Aveanap, but I won't bore you with the detailsI just worry more about dd than ds cos of her special needs the fact that when she is poorly it is that much harder to determine whats wrong.

Thank you for your concern though its nice to know someone is out thereThis is why mumsnet is so great. Thanks

It's understandable that you worry. I've worked with sick children and their families, the stress that you must go through is hard to imagine. I don't know what the spots are though, it sounds like a heat rash though. I'm off to bed now, I hope all's as well as it can be for you.

have you done the glass test on the spots?

wrinklytum · 15/04/2008 00:13

Its not a meningitis rash, but thank you.I haven't seen anything like themI mean why just on her lower legs, not all the way up if its on her bottom too,tis very odd!!!

havent a clue sorry

but alarm bells always ring when i see a rash

but id just keep an eye on her and if her temp goes up ring the nhs direct or your gp becauses they normally have an out of hours number.

but id take her to gp for sure in morning

hope she is ok and try not to worry too much
