CT scan found ‘something’ on my liver - anyone had something similar?

Hi all, 3 days ago I developed appendicitis and went to hospital. Before they removed my appendix they did a CT scan to confirm it which it did

But the nurse said the CT scan picked up ‘something’ on my liver and I need to have an ultrasound. I’m waiting on the appointment now but my obvious worry is the C word! My mum died of cancer when I was 15 and naturally I’m thinking the worst. Has anyone had to have something similar?

Hey I had something similar where something came up on mrcp, further investigations showed an adenoma and a focal nodular hyperplasia. Another common cause of lesions on liver is hemangioma (nor sure of spelling) it's not uncommon esp in women - there's several conditions it could be but I know the anxiety is crippling. I now have a liver scan every year to check up on them

Mine was a haemogionoma (also not sure of spelling!).

It was found on an incidental MRI whilst I was getting diagnosed for cervical cancer.
It was obviously a very worrying period but there are many benign causes such as this.

Like pp, I am just rescanned annually to make sure it's not getting any bigger.

Also my cancer nurse prewarmed me that many, many such scans pick up something 'incidental' - most people have little quirks and oddities that, were it not for a scan, they wouldn't even know they were there. In the vast majority of cases (I think 95% she told me) they will be totally benign, but it would obviously be negligent of them not to fully check it out.

Yes I had similar. Was a big but benign haemangioma.

There's a thread of lots of people suffering the same I can't link but search liver lesions

I had an mri when I had gallstones , they also found cysts on my liver and a cyst on my spleen but said they will just keep and eye on them to make sure they don't cause any issues
