Please help! Rota virus or something else?

I'm hoping to have my anxiety placated a bit here as I'm a massive emetophobe. Also, apologies for TMI.

Wednesday night, my DS started projectile vomiting, by midnight it was no longer forceful and mostly just phlegm when he coughed. Thursday morning he was sick after guzzling water to quick, but other than that he only brought up very small amounts of food and that stopped by the afternoon. However then had a bout of watery diarrhea. 2 hours later another one, but then nothing until mid afternoon then next day.

From my reading, this sounds like rotavirus as the diarrhea came so much after. His appetite has been back for 2 days but his daily stool is still diarrhea, but early hours this morning my partner went down horrendously with d&v, and it's been most of the day. He is so much worse than DS was, which seems unusual for Rota.
So question one, is it rotavirus or another bug?
Second question, my partner has fibromyalgia and IBs, so could these just be making his symptoms so much worse?
I'd be in tears and panicking if I was going through what he is.

Thank you all.

I would imagine norovirus if it’s making an adult so ill - it’s usually just diarrhoea in adults. Did your son have the rotavirus vaccine as a baby?

He did yeah.
That's what I was worried someone would say 😢

Sorry. I have emetophobia too and I know how scary norovirus is. I’ve really struggled with this year because it didn’t confine itself to its normal season so no months have felt relatively safe from it at all.

Anyway, bleach the fuck out of everything and hope for the best. 🤞

The Fibromyalgia will probably make him feel worse & most likely bring on a flare up, mine does whenever I'm ill, normally more joint pain & fatigue. The ibs could contribute to the diarrhoea, make sure he has some probiotics as the flora in his gut will have been affected.

Fellow emetophobe here feeling your anguish.

Remember whatever happens, everyone will be fine and you CAN cope, it doesn't feel like it but keep telling yourself that you can cope and it will all be ok, xx

Thank you. He always suffers really bad with colds etc because of the fibro, but this is the first stomach bug.
Thank you for the tip 🙂

Another emetophobe here
We came back from holiday a week ago and my son started vomiting, then the diahoreea followed by more vomiting. It's been very aggressive. He's been sick again tonight, when we thought he was better, hence why I'm up. My husband and other son came down with it Saturday.
My husband is really bad 💩my other son it's been 24 hours 🤮 and 💩 and he's fine now.
We are awaiting results from a stool sample, which was done just in case, as we've been abroad, but have been told by GP most likely a virus. It's bloody awful.
I feel like I'm a ticking timebomb 😭

One tip I will give is activated charcoal capsules. I take them at first sign of sickness. I'm not sure if they work or if it's in my head but I'll try anything to avoid. Probiotics too

I'm praying for us 🤢😱💩😭 it's been a long messy week

Gosh that sounds awful! I'm so sorry everyone is so unwell. Hopefully it is nothing serious.

Thank you for the tip, I will stock up 😊
I hope you manage to avoid it 🤞
