Sudden increase in heart rate

Hello everyone,

Just wondering if anyone else has similar experiences to what I'm currently experiencing, please note I'm seeing a doctor this Friday.

I can be sitting or lying on the sofa my heart rate will be steady around 70-75 and upon standing it goes up to around 120, I get a wooshing feeling in my head and can feel my heart going fast. This lasts for a max of 30-60 seconds.

I've also noticed going up the stairs sends my heart rate crazy I was just pottering before in the house and took some washing upstairs and my heart rate hit 160 by just going upstairs, I felt a bit out of puff and had to stand still and let it settle down.

I was wondering about POTs but it only lasts for a short amount of time so not sure if it could be that?

Any similar experiences or advice would be appreciated. Have a great day 🙂

I have this. Diagnosed as postaural hypotension. It’s very unpleasant to live with as I always feel dizzy and light headed upon standing!

This happened to me. Also my Fitbit was picking up AFib. It turned out I have pneumonia. My heart rate is still high.

Hi,

Sounds similar to some symptoms my husband had. He has been diagnosed with ARVC.

I would say don't stress until you've seen a doctor, it may well be a long process to find out whats wrong, if anything, but worth pushing for ECG's, and in particular an MRI scan. My husband passed ECG's and stress-tests and it was only once he had had an MRI that they realised he had the markers of ARVC.

Hope it goes well for you and it ends up being nothing serious
