I had 3 teeth out under sedation a month ago. It was my first time being sedated and I was an absolute wreck with nerves.
Once the needle went in my hand I don't remember anything, I didn't feel anything and must have fallen asleep. I was woke up and home within 1 hour.
I had no pain and minimal bleeding afterwards. I'd honestly always opt for sedation from now on! You'll honestly be fine op you'll be in and out before you know it (literally)

CharlotteFlax · 29/07/2024 01:58

I had a similar experience to yasmin- easiest and dreamiest dentistry I've ever had done.

LuubyLuu · 29/07/2024 02:09

Honestly I would choose to be sedated for every procedure at the dentist if I could!

It's not unpleasant at all, so preferable to uncomfortable or time-consuming treatment.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 29/07/2024 02:15

It's brilliant !

I have had it for so many years.

have you been told you need to have someone accompany you home ? as you can't drive for x amount of time afterwards.

SheepBeepBeep · 29/07/2024 06:46

I’ve had dental sedation 3 times and it’s wonderful. I don’t remember anything about the procedures and the dentist was able to get the work done quickly and easily. I had 2 wisdom teeth out and two fillings replaced the last time I was sedated. I had treatment around 2pm and was eating soup for tea by 7pm. No after effects, although you are supposed to take it easy the day after.

Good luck on Tuesday OP. It will be very quick and easy for you.

You'll be so fast asleep you'll ask yourself after why were u so afraid xx they dont mock about, once youre in the chair youre asleep dont stress at all

Escapetothecatshome · 29/07/2024 13:36

I think it’s fantastic I was very nervous, had it for wisdom teeth removal, they put the injection in and my last thought was this is isn’t working and I was out ☺️ Next thing I knew it was all over and they were helping me out to the car and dad drove me home. Please don’t worry about it you’ll be absolutely fine, I’m going in for a filling tomorrow wish I was having it x

Kaymumof4 · 29/07/2024 13:49

Thank you for replying, suppose this time tomorrow I'll be all done, they didn't say anything about eating and drinking before, did u eat or drink before?
Be so glad when it's over, I hate the feeling of dizziness and drunk feeling is that how u feel ?
How long did it take you to feel normal?

Yes have to have someone with me and take me home , told not to use my phone for 24 hours and look after children. Thank you for all the replies I didn't expect it and everyone has had a positive experience.

How do you go about getting sedation?? Ideally i need my filings replacing and an old repair removing and re doing but i won't have it done awake unless something falls out. I have major dentist anxiety and even a check up has me really stressed.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 29/07/2024 14:11

@Kaymumof4

I don't remember about food/drink but what I always had was not like a general anaesthetic, apparently I had conscious sedation but I was always totally unaware of what was happening i.e. what the dentist was doing.

and when I come back around I always felt ' normal '

@NeedthatFridayfeeling

My dental practice doesn't offer it, so I ask to be referred to the dentist in a nearby town that does offer it. and it's never been a problem.

AgathaMystery · 29/07/2024 14:12

It was absolutely lovely. I would have all dental work done under sedation now!

justasking111 · 29/07/2024 14:13

Wonderful stuff I call it la la Juice

SallyWD · 29/07/2024 14:33

I had it done. Absolutely fine. Don't remember much about it, just that I was completely calm. Don't worry.

Kaymumof4 · 29/07/2024 14:34

Did anyone do or say anything stupid ? I heard some people do

OP posts:
SallyWD · 29/07/2024 14:47

Kaymumof4 · 30/07/2024 12:51
