looking for advice and anyone who has been through a similar experience. I am currently 30 and for the past 4 years have experienced what I think could be IC.
a bit of history -
4 years ago I was regularly suffering with UTI’s including one kidney infection mainly after intercourse and was on and off anti biotics treating these. I had experienced uti’s before but had a year where I was getting them nearly every month.
one night I was woke up by what I can only describe as an intense spasm - my abdomen and back really hurt and I needed to wee every 5 mins. It wasn’t just a feeling my bladder was actually filling up and becoming full. The next day once it had subsided I went to the doctors. My urine tests and swabs all came back clear but they gave me anti biotics just in case. Needless to say it didn’t work and I had repeated episodes for months and an increased need to urinate particularly at night. Eventually, I was referred to a gynaecologist by my doctor who did various tests and scans and all came back normal. I continued to have phases where I would get these painful spasms which would also cause pain in my private area. I relocated during this time to a new area so had to change my gp.
This has gone on and off for a few years with repeated trips to the doctors who seem to have no answer except it could be endometriosis but I do not suffer from painful, heavy or irregular periods so I feel this is unlikely? Please correct me if I am wrong!
I have had another attack recently, whilst on my period. It includes abdominal pain + back pain, increased need to urinate, and pain again in my private area - a throbbing/ burning sensation. My left leg has also been particularly tingly during this flare up.
if anyone has experience with IC please could you share your thoughts on if this sounds similar to you? My doctor has dismissed it and said because it isn’t actually painful to urinate it is unlikely and I don’t have any blood in my urine. I want to push to see a urologist. Also if anyone has had anything similar what did you do to ease it?
Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated at this stage.
