DVT or not DVT?

I went to LA for 5 days and on my flight back my feet and ankles started swelling slightly. When I got back to my hotel and elevated them immediately. I was however concerned and called 111 as I was worried about the potential of DVT. They told me to just carry on elevating and I would be fine. After a few hours I noticed both my legs were red so I phoned them again and they referred me to pharmacy to phone me.

I was better in the morning but ankles were still slightly swollen. The pharmacy phoned and asked for an update and when I said the swelling had decreased they said that it was just swelling from travel and if it got worse to phone back.

I then went home and as it was hot I had a nap, when I woke I felt like I was breathing weirdly so again I phoned 111 and they booked me in to go to the hospital to get check in the morning.

when I got there the doctor examined me and took my blood to test. The test came back fine and he said he’s certain it’s not a clot and to just keep the legs elevated when possible.

Its been a week and the swelling has gone however in the back of my calf it still feels a little tight and I get throbbing in both my legs every so often.

Should I go back to the doctor and Get it check again? I have really bad anxiety incase it is DVT

Well it's normal for feet to swell on planes. Did you wear the stockings?

I think you would probably know by now if it was a DVT. You're feeling all the twinges because you're so focused on them.

It would be highly unlikely to have a dvt in both legs at the same time also if your d dimer level wasn't raised its even more unlikely. Anxiety can have physical effects on your body especially when your focused on a certain body part.

I doubt you have clots in both legs.

Definitely the d-dimer test would have flagged if it was a blood clot. If your breathing gets painful then go back. My experience, I saw a doc on a Friday, my xray was normal, by Sunday took myself to A&E as I couldn't breath I had multiple blood clots on both lungs. Don't know the cause. Maybe contraceptive pill. But a d-dimer would rest my mind.
