I came off it last year having been on it for most of the previous 25 years.
I just stopped taking it when the last packet ran out. Took a couple of months for everything to settle down.
No particular side effects apart from having periods again and remembering why I had gone on it in the first place 😭

I stopped taking it a few years back and zero side effects. I actually felt a lot better for it, better mood, skin etc.

Got off in February after 10 years, cold turkey. If anything I do feel better without them - lost some weight and feeling more cheerful. I have never realised, but probably pills were playing with my head a lot, making me more melancholic (I don't want to say depressed because I were never diagnosed, but I do suspect it).

Wow that's interesting and generally sounds positive (?) Thanks all.

Pregnancy is a common side effect of coming off the pill.

willsandnoodle · 26/07/2024 17:18

I came off the pill a few weeks ago. At first my libido was better, but now settled back down again.

My mood was something else! Just angry for no reason, and really impatient. 0-10 in seconds. This was really difficult as I'm usually patient and calm.

Feeling better now. Not 100% back to normal yet though. Can take a few months

Billyandharry · 26/07/2024 18:22

@newtb ha thanks

I took it for just under 10 years then came off. No negative side effects. Skin and mood improved which was a win

Billyandharry · 26/07/2024 18:53

@bookishblondie thanks. Hope i have the same experience!

My sister was in a relationship for 10yrs and was on the pill for that time. Her partner at the time didn't want children.
She got into a new relationship and found out her new partner wanted children.
The doctor did not explain to her that being on that for that amount time would destroy her chances of having children.

She know cannot conceive because of the pill.

Just saying to give yourself a break from the pill.

Billyandharry · 27/07/2024 18:47

@whoknows24 - I don't think pill use affects fertility though does it? Also I've had all the kids I'm having (many years ago) but thanks for the tip. :)
More asking about how people felt when stopped taking it.

Well no, they wouldn't have.

Yeah gave the pill up cold turkey twice. Dogestrial was working well but others had other idea’s.

First time was to have a coil inserted next day. Finished the particular pack.

2nd time was abrupt stop of the pill 4 days before coil removal, as worst advice during peri or post menopause is to have coil alongside the pill which I only was taking to stop the coil periods. Not finished the pack.

Really thought I was ok but 48 hours after coil removed I’ve been paying the price. If I was so unlucky to have periods forced through on the coil what was I expecting.
Does this period stop soon and how the devil is it happening if I’ve not ovulated. I cannot believe I’m braving these future periods should they show up.

@Ladymuck2022 sorry ? What? Is yours a positive experience then? Hope so!
