Cost of ceramic onlay for one tooth! Does it sound right?

I have one tooth that is broken and slightly decayed. The dentist has quoted me £980 for one tooth - £180 for core build up and £800 for emax (ceramic) onlay.
Does that sound right? It seems o expensive for one tooth.

I paid £500 for a metal onlay about three years ago. I would expect a ceramic one would be more expensive. It's a back tooth though, so the onlay didn't need to be white.

Anyone had ceramic? How much should it cost?

I've had molars done in past Yr, about £500 each in total so yes does seem expensive
Edit to say 1st molar was complex with a crack at side so needed a lot of ceramic overlay.

Was this on a dental plan or the full private price?
