All the bites are up my lower legs and around ankles. Really intense inchiness. 1st ones got scratched so now scabby. Trying not to scratch but i can't take the itchiness.

No idea what is feasting on me. No sign of fleas on the dog plus i though fleas prefer the dogs blood and only feast on humans if there is no animal to feed off.

What can i do? Really is driving me mad.

Marmite? Interesting. Haven't got any i don't think. Not really a fav in my house. But worth a try!
Do insect repellents work on fleas (if thats what it is)?

Fleas can be dormant for upto 2 years, they'll wake up when they feel heat near them, go to vets and get carpet spray. I always get munched on by the blighters, as others have said anti histimine helps! I can tell my friend her cats have fleas before she's seen one

TRY THIS
I had fleas in the house last November a month before DS was born!
I have a cat who is treated and I couldn't find any fleas on him but I definetley got bit several times and saw the little buggers a couple of times.
I tried the spray and have not seen anything or been bit for 4 months. SIL stayed for a few days and she claims to have been bitten so I am going to order some more.

Our dog is flea-less at the moment but DH and I have been bitten whilst at one end of the bedroom - the fireplace end, there may be birds nesting in the chimney so that could be the source? I had a really good hoover round and we've been fine since.

(But I scratched too and now have scabs).

tortoise - no, didn't feel the bite or see perpetrator.

Sadly I am also a beacon for gnats and mosquitos.

tortoise, you can buy at vets but it will be a few quid more. I did try cheaper versions from supermarket but they didn't work.
