I have intense abdominal pain after an MRI 48 hours ago, they used a contrast dye and also a liquid buscopan into an IV, it’s almost like a severe IBS flare up. Has anyone else had this and will it go away? I’ve been to urgent care today and they were just completely useless.
any help appreciated as I feel desperate

Oh gosh you poor thing, I felt very strange after mine but just went to bed and slept it off, nowhere near as bad as yours. Is it getting worse or staying the same?

Just had a quickie Google and it's a thing apparently, drink lots to flush it out of your system , if it gets worse seek help again.

Thank you for your reply, I had a quick look on Google earlier and scared myself half to death as always. The funny this is I had the MRI for my bladder and now it’s my bowel sent into turmoil! I’ve been in a mess all day. hopefully it’ll go, it’s only been 48 hours so I’m holding out hope. thank you OP x

Do you have IBS or just using that as an example of the symptoms you've got?

Wondering, if you do get IBS, if you were v. stressed out by the MRI and it's affected your bowels?

When I had an MRI I thought I'd be fine as don't usually get claustrophobic or anything, but actually found I was on the edge of panic for most of it.

I do get IBS slightly and I’ve had it before but nothing to this level, I was terrified but the pain seems to be too bad to be fear related but you could be right, I was scared of the dye and the drugs more than the MRI scan, I thought they were a lot shorter too, I was in the scanner for an hour

Just the same 😢 I’ve had codeine and paracetamol and I managed to sleep last night, it’s like labour pain in my bowel! Horrible. Thank you for asking x

That's not good and going on a long time,I'd seek advice again if it's not significantly better by tomorrow.
