D&V ...and D ....and more V bug

Not sure what I hope to achieve with this thread- just wondering if anyone has any insight.

DS is coming up to a year. At the beginning of April he picked up a D&V bug (which coincided nicely with my return to work). He was sick a few times, and had diarrhoea for about a week. Then we thought he was better. Went to nursery the next week, came back, was sick again that night. Diarrhoea on occasions in the next few days - never often enough to feel that he "had it" again iyswim. Seemed to get better (we went to the docs a couple of times - usual advice about keeping him hydrated etc and checked him over). He's been fine now for about a week, been at nursery 2 days in this last week. Today he has been sick twice already, and retched once.
He also had a really bad cough at the same time as the D&V, and we are sure this is responsible for some of the vomiting. That seems to have got loads better, but we're not sure if it's related this time.
As well as the vomiting today, he has had a dirty nappy, but not diarrhoea. Since the D&V he has had loads more than normal dirty nappies.
Sorry this is long and rambling, I'm just getting a bit worried that it has gone on so long. Any thoughts? I could take him back to doc tomorrow but will be told to keep him hydrated (I am) and feed him bland food.

Just a thought - he's not on antibiotics for anything else is he? My dd had very similar pattern on starting nursery - kept vomiting on and off yet was well in between - turned out to be amoxycillin. As soon as this was stopped she was fine again.

Thanks but no, the irony is he's normally so healthy

Any doc will tell you (well mine did), that young kids tend to get looser nappies after being sick, even if they don't have a bug. My daughter always seems to have a week of awful "movements" so to speak, after throwing up. I would say it is totally normal!

StealthPolarBear · 14/04/2008 20:09

but his nappies seem normal - the problem is now that he's being sick
Wonder if it works the other way round
