I've gargled with soluble Paracetamol and tried gargling with TCP (great with the MS) but to no avail. I'm still unable to talk, and finding it impossible to sleep because of the pain/restriction on breathing. Any tips?

DH tried to go to the out-of-hours pharmacy to ask advice but they were shut. I thought someone might have helpful advice?

make a drink with honey and lemon, or, take a spoon of honey, sprinkle some black pepper on top and warm it on the cooker (not too hot), that usually helps me a lot.

First thing will be the worst so take heart hopefully it will ease a little throughout the day with a few slowly sipped hot drinks. I know sometimes it is hard to even swallow but just keep going.
Warm steamy bath/shower helps with the symptoms a lot, will open the throat and ease some soreness Have a hot drink - lemon and honey obviously is good but milky coating the throat stuff is good too. Ice cream All will only treat the symptoms but better than nothing.

Thanks, everyone. It's DD's birthday today so I have plenty of ice cream in as it happens .
