Wisdom tooth extraction.

I had a pretty straightforward upper wisdom tooth extracted. Straight root and came out fine.
It really really bloody hurts. Swollen and can’t manage solids. Normal? I’m taking solpadeine max and ibuprofen. If it’s relevant I have fibro so tend to suffer more pain than I should for even small injuries.
At what point do I go back? How would I know if it is infected? I don’t think it is but am switching between give it time and I need to get it looked at.
It is my son’s graduation next week and I’m worried I won’t manage it. 🤦‍♀️

Can you give the dentist a call this morning? They might be able to advise you over the phone.
I didn;t have any pain or swelling with either of mine, so it could be infected.

My second went so well that I completey forgot and next day ate a crispy duck wrap which made it start bleeding....for hours! I was spitting out clots of blood it was gross, I rang out of ours emergency number (as by then it was evening) and they advised me how to stop the bleeding and it was all fine.

Have you heard of dry root? It can happen after a tooth extraction and needs to be treated by the dentist.
The best thing to do is to get it checked whatever is going on.
A wisdom tooth extraction can cause pain, fibromyalgia is awful as well, but the worth over it won’t help.
Get some advice from the dentist so at least you know it’s healing.

Thanks. It’s hard to know if I’m under or over reacting where pain is concerned!!

When did you have it out? Normal to hurt the day after, but if its 2 or 3 days ago then it could be a dry socket and you will need to see the dentist. Give them a ring today, or over the weekend you can call 111. Dentist would usually rinse it out with some saline and then dress it to help with the healing. Antibiotics only needed if pus present or big swelling.

Had it removed first thing Monday morning. Followed all advice. I called the dentist this morning. It’s hot and sore along the jaw so they’ve managed to fit me in to have it looked at. 11am appointment. I’m so grateful. On immunosuppressants so infection is possible. Here’s hoping there isn’t and I’m just being a wuss!!! 🥴
