On and off diarrhoea

Wondering if anyone has had similar. Sorry if TMI!

So I've had on and off loose stools for 2-3 months now. It's not all the time, but often enough to be causing an issue (more than once a week). I can't pinpoint it to a particular food, although it certainly could be! I'm 32. No other symptoms, no pain anywhere, etc.

Went to the doctor today who has said to do blood tests (I've got an appt next week). But wondered if anyone has had similar and what it could be? She didn't really say what they were testing for either, although I should have asked!

Are they not doing stool samples?

IBS? Constipation?

How are you otherwise?

@GG1986 no she said because it's been going on for a while it's not a virus or anything so will do bloods.

@FuzzyStripes constipation sometimes, followed by diahrrea normally. I'm well otherwise. Feel fine no other symptoms apart from this!

I get this whenever my reflux is playing up. Even if it's not severe enough for me to notice symptoms like an acidic taste or burning sensation, the excess acid causes loose stools. Everything goes back closer to normal as soon as the meds get back on top of the acid, but it goes hand-in-hand with it and it's been a constant back and forth for years.

Diverticulitis?

They should at least be checking your calprotectin levels to see if it's raised?

This is interesting. I've had intermittent diarrhoea for a few months. Had scans and colonoscopy but nothing coming up abnormal. I do have occasional gastric inflammation and hadn't made any connection. I don't take ppis all the time just as needed. Maybe it's the stomach acid.
