Dense breast diagnosis and MRI

Hello ladies. I have a dense breast diagnosis following a mammogram and echo. The doctor has prescribed me an MRI for next month. Does this mean there is likely to be something sinister? I'm obviously stressed about it and am catastrophizing (I'm a wimp at anything medical and I realize I need to get a grip).

I can't say but just to give you a virtual hug as I'm a wimp at medical stuff- heart racing every time. I had an ultrasound on my breasts today and was told that they are dense. Wishing you all the best 🌹

Thank you for your reply! I really appreciate it. I think we need to be positive - having dense breasts means they are firm i am telling myself 😹 (silver lining). Wishing you the best of health xx

Dense breasts just means you're at higher risk of breast cancer. Als the tissue is dense, it's hard to spot cancer in a mammogram, this is why they'd be offering an MRI

Thank you for this explanation - this is super interesting and helpful. I also want to add they found two very small fibromyalgia (which I believe to be nothing to worry about)
