his last two have shown his renal function is mildily impaired. ok thats fine, keep an eye.

tests this week have shown low white cells. so GP called him to make sure he felt ok, and to keep an eye in case anything is 'brewing'

never ends.

hopefully, he will just sneeze once and get over it lol.

I can see why that would worry you more. Can I ask - is it likely to be his pre-transplant condition which causes the renal impairment - or is it a side-effect of the meds he's on now - or this not known - or is it none of my business? If the last - just tell me and I'll shut up

misdee · 11/04/2008 21:56

he could suffer kidney failure post transplant, its a possibility, but hopefully not for a long while. he was fortunate and didnt require dialysis after the heart transplant so that was good.

before the LVAD he was in multi-organ failure, with his kidneys and liver not fucntioning well at all. there have been a few periods when they havent functioned as well as they should, but generally they tend to do the job fine.

they are keeping an eye on renal function, but its so mildly impaired atm nothing really can be done. but it just reminds me that things arent going to be normal really.

That sounds like his kidneys aren't in bad shape then all things considered Hope he keeps well over the weekend. How are you feeling? Sick at all?

ChocolateRockingHorse · 11/04/2008 22:05

Oh God what one was that??

(Soon I hope re moving! Looked tonight.. the roof is on! YAY!!! Still a fair amount of work going on inside - when the lazy bastards bother to turn up to do it - but hopefully not more than a couple of week's worth although I'm guessing. Things are dire here. We're virtually camping these days. DS2 has trashed everything!)

misdee · 11/04/2008 22:07

werent you meant to be in last month? hope its sooner rather than later.

NL, yes his kidneys are generally in good shape, so am hoping they stay that way. keep making sure he is ok. i'm a worrier lol.

Sometimes if you are over medicated the white cell count can drop.Hope he is ok I know how you feel we are on edge every set of results til we know they are ok.Do you know what kind of renal failure he had?

misdee · 11/04/2008 22:11

not sure noddy, is there different types? it was bought on by the heart failure.

OP posts:
noddyholder · 11/04/2008 22:15

there are so many kinds Some are 'better' to have than others. Is he on tacrolimus? My first transplanr got ruined by cyclosporin it is a well known kidney damager as is high blood pressure. Those times when you come back to reality of 'this will never be normal' do pass because you will have some great times.Thinking of you both as my brother who donated the kidney is here on holiday so transplants very mush topic of the week here xxxxx

misdee · 11/04/2008 22:18

he is on tacrolimus, not cylosporin.

am hoping nxt set of bloods come back as normal as can be, and we can go back to pretending we are a normal family lol.
